Most of the interviews and much of the editing of the film’s rough cut have been completed. We’re waiting on a couple of more interviews with some notable Edmonton politicians, and then the rough cut will be complete. More soon – we hope!
Shauna Forsyth is a McCauley homeowner, part of the Community League, and has family roots in the area.
Mike Van Boom is the Vice President of the McCauley Community League and the Housing Ambassador with the Interfaith Housing Initiative.
Todd Janes is an artist, a McCauley homeowner, and the Chair of the Revitalization Steering Committee.
Jim Gurnett is a former McCauley resident who is a social activist with a passion for housing advocacy.
Teresa Spinelli is the owner and President of The Italian Centre. Her family encompasses three generations of McCauley-ites, and whose generosity is known throughout the city.
Bob McKeon has lived in McCauley for over 35 years, has worked with a variety of initiatives involving housing and social justice, and currently lives in cooperative housing.
I film the Edmonton Homeless Memorial every year, and some of this year’s footage will appear in the film. Below my video that captures the whole event, which honoured the lives of 51 people who died in 2015 as a direct or indirect result of not having a home.
I (Paula) filmed the Inner City Drum Beats event during the Edmonton Poetry Festival on April 17 at Zocalo, to use a clip or two in the film – and also because I happened to be the First Place winner. Here are a few outtakes from my footage.
